Pirelli Overhauls Scorpion Gravity Range With Simplified Tyre Selection System
Pirelli has unveiled a comprehensive redesign of its Scorpion Gravity mountain bike tyre line, aimed at riders across trail, enduro, freeride and downhill disciplines. The Italian manufacturer says the shake-up is less about chasing marginal grip gains and more about untangling the often bewildering process of choosing the right tyre in the first place.
Under the new system, riders begin by picking from three distinct tread patterns designed around different terrain and riding styles, before selecting a casing construction and rubber compound to match their weight, discipline and local trail conditions. Pirelli claims this modular approach removes much of the guesswork that previously came with cross-referencing dozens of individual model names and specifications.
The rework covers the full gravity spectrum, from lighter trail-focused casings through to burly downhill-race options built to withstand repeated impacts at speed. Pirelli has also refreshed the compounds used across the range, though full technical details on rubber formulations and weights are expected to follow as the tyres reach dealers.
For UK riders, the timing is notable. Simplified buying decisions matter at a moment when tyre pricing has crept upwards and stockists are increasingly asked to talk customers through technical trade-offs on the shop floor. A clearer choice structure could prove particularly useful for enduro racers and bike park regulars who frequently swap casings and compounds between wet winter loam and drier summer tracks, without needing a spreadsheet to work out which tyre does what.
Availability details for UK retailers have not yet been confirmed, but the range is expected to filter through to bike shops and online stockists in the coming months as Pirelli continues to build out its off-road tyre presence alongside its established road and gravel lines.
