Pirelli Rolls Out New SCORPION Gravity Tyres for Downhill Riders

Pirelli has expanded its off-road tyre lineup with the launch of the SCORPION Gravity range, aimed squarely at riders who spend their time chasing lap times on steep, technical descents rather than grinding out cross-country miles.

The new collection gives gravity and downhill racers several tread options to choose from, letting them tailor their setup to specific trail conditions rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all pattern. Pirelli says the range has been shaped by input from its gravity-focused athletes, with construction and rubber compounds tuned to cope with the repeated hard braking, cornering loads and impacts typical of bike park and World Cup downhill tracks.

Details on exact compound names and casing options remain limited for now, but the Italian manufacturer has positioned SCORPION Gravity as a direct response to demand from riders wanting more control when things get steep and loose. The move follows Pirelli’s broader push into mountain biking in recent years, building on the existing SCORPION MTB range that already covers trail and enduro use.

For UK riders, this matters because tyre choice remains one of the cheapest and most effective upgrades available for anyone racing gravity-oriented disciplines, from local downhill leagues to enduro rounds. With British venues like Bike Park Wales, Fort William and Antur Stiniog regularly hosting fast, rocky and often wet tracks, having a tyre specifically engineered for grip under heavy braking and cornering forces could prove a genuine advantage over adapting standard trail rubber.

Pricing and UK stockist information have yet to be confirmed, though industry watchers expect availability to roll out through Pirelli’s existing bike distribution network in the coming months. Riders keen to try the new range before committing may want to keep an eye on demo days at UK bike parks once stock lands.
