Continental has widened its Gravity mountain bike tyre collection, rolling out 13 additional combinations aimed at riders who spend their time hunting berms, roots and rock gardens rather than smooth tarmac.
The expansion touches four existing models in the range – Argotal, Kryptotal Front, Kryptotal Rear and Xynotal – with new pairings of size, casing construction and rubber compound. The idea is to let enduro and downhill riders fine-tune their front and rear setup more precisely, whether they’re chasing outright grip on wet roots, durability for bike park laps, or a lighter build for pedally enduro stages.
Continental says the additions build on feedback from its existing Gravity users, who wanted more flexibility to mix and match casings and compounds depending on terrain, weather and riding style, rather than being locked into a single fixed spec per tyre model.
For UK trail and enduro riders, this kind of granular choice matters more than it might first appear. Gravity casings and compounds significantly affect how a bike feels through rock gardens and wet British woodland – too soft a casing and you’re patching punctures all winter, too hard a compound and you’re sliding off greasy roots in November. Having 13 more ways to dial in that balance without switching to an entirely different tyre model should make it easier for riders to get a setup that suits their local trails, rather than compromising with an off-the-peg option that’s not quite right for chalk, peat or granite.
The new combinations are expected to reach UK stockists and Continental’s usual retail channels in the coming weeks, giving riders building bikes for the 2025 enduro and downhill season plenty of fresh options to consider.
