ION Bike and SQlab Bolster UK Trade Support with New Sales Agent
German-based apparel and componentry brands ION Bike and SQlab have announced a strengthening of their UK sales structure, appointing Josh Whiting as their new dedicated sales agent for the market with effect from 1 September.
Whiting, a familiar face in the UK bike trade, takes on responsibility for liaising with independent bike shops and specialist retailers stocking the two brands, acting as the go-to contact for stockists north and south of the border. His remit will cover everything from product knowledge and range planning to general trade support, as both companies look to deepen their retail relationships in Britain.
ION Bike, known for its mountain bike protective wear and casual riding apparel, and SQlab, which has built a strong reputation for ergonomically designed saddles, grips and handlebars, have both seen growing interest from UK riders in recent years. The move signals continued confidence in the British market despite a challenging period for bike shops nationally, with several independents having closed over the past two years amid rising costs and squeezed consumer spending.
For riders, particularly those chasing saddle comfort or ergonomic setup gains on long rides, having a stronger dedicated UK presence should mean better stock availability and more informed advice at shop level. Off-road riders reliant on ION’s protective gear may also benefit from improved lead times and clearer communication between brand and retailer, at a time when many are reassessing kit budgets ahead of the new season.
