Campagnolo Secures Fresh Backing from Pinarello’s Parent Investor

Campagnolo, the storied Vicenza-based maker of gears, wheels and components, has confirmed a new strategic investment from SPAC, the holding group that also owns Pinarello. The deal marks what both parties are calling the start of a new era for the nearly century-old Italian brand, though full financial terms have not been disclosed.

Founded in 1933, Campagnolo has long been synonymous with high-end road groupsets and remains one of the last major manufacturers still producing much of its range in Italy. In recent years, however, the firm has faced mounting pressure from Japanese and American rivals dominating the electronic groupset market, alongside broader headwinds affecting the wider cycling industry following the post-pandemic demand slump.

SPAC’s involvement brings Campagnolo into closer orbit with Pinarello, one of the most recognisable names in professional road racing, raising the prospect of tighter collaboration between the two Italian giants on future product development, supply chains and possibly team sponsorship deals. Executives from both firms have framed the tie-up as a chance to combine engineering heritage with fresh capital and strategic direction, rather than a takeover in the traditional sense.

For riders and enthusiasts, the move signals that Campagnolo’s future – and its instantly recognisable componentry, from Record groupsets to carbon wheelsets – looks more secure than it has in some time. It also hints at renewed investment in innovation at a moment when the brand has appeared to lag behind Shimano and SRAM in electronic shifting and wireless technology.

At On Track, we’ll be watching closely to see whether this partnership translates into fresh product launches or a stronger presence in the WorldTour peloton, where Campagnolo’s visibility has diminished in recent seasons. For UK riders loyal to the brand’s distinctive shift feel and Italian craftsmanship, continuity – and renewed ambition – will be welcome news.
