Chinese e-bike manufacturer ADO has unveiled a new sensor suite, dubbed Sense 3.0, aimed at giving riders an early warning of hazards approaching from behind or to the side. The system pairs radar and LiDAR technology to build a real-time picture of nearby traffic and obstacles, feeding alerts back to the rider through onboard displays or connected devices.
According to ADO, the combination of sensing methods allows the system to track the speed and distance of approaching vehicles more accurately than camera-only setups, which can struggle in poor light or bad weather. The firm says Sense 3.0 is designed to slot into future ADO e-bike models, forming part of a broader push towards rider-assistance features that mirror the collision-warning tech now common in cars.
Details on pricing, availability and which specific models will carry the technology have not yet been confirmed, though ADO has signalled that further announcements are expected as the system moves towards production.
