Ergon Adds Two Fresh Grips to Its Mountain Bike Range

German component specialist Ergon has widened its mountain bike grip collection with two new models, the GMA and the GMS, aimed at riders who want more choice when it comes to matching grip shape to riding style.

Both grips share Ergon’s proprietary Gravity Control Rubber Compound, a material the brand has refined over years of testing to balance cushioning with a secure hold in wet or muddy conditions. The firm says the new silhouettes draw on its long-running ergonomic research, with each grip contoured differently to suit particular hand positions and riding demands, whether that’s all-day trail comfort or a firmer, more direct feel for aggressive descending.

Ergon has built a strong reputation among mountain bikers for grips that reduce hand fatigue and numbness on long rides, so the launch of two distinct profiles under the same rubber technology gives riders more scope to fine-tune contact points without sacrificing that signature damping quality.

For UK trail and enduro riders, hand comfort is often an overlooked marginal gain compared to suspension setup or tyre choice, yet it can make a real difference on longer days in the saddle or during multi-stage events. Options like the GMA and GMS mean riders can pick a grip shape suited to their specific hand size or preferred bar sweep, rather than settling for a one-size-fits-all solution, which is a welcome development as more UK riders take on bikepacking and enduro racing where comfort over distance is paramount.
