Factor unveils ONE SP aero cockpit for time trial and triathlon specialists
Factor Bikes has expanded its ONE road range with a dedicated time trial and triathlon build, badged the ONE SP. Rather than developing an entirely new frameset, the Norfolk-born brand has taken the existing ONE chassis and its distinctive wide-stance bayonet fork and paired them with a freshly designed cockpit, the ONE SP Bar, to create what it calls a “Speed Package”.
The new bar is engineered to deliver the low, forward-hipped riding position that time trial and triathlon competitors need to cut through the air, while keeping the adjustability that racers rely on to fine-tune reach, stack and elbow-pad width across a race season. By building the aero position around a platform already proven on the road, Factor says riders benefit from the ONE’s established stiffness and handling characteristics rather than compromises typical of dedicated TT-only frames.
Factor has pitched the ONE SP at athletes who split their calendars between road racing and time trial or multisport events, offering a single frame that can be reconfigured rather than requiring a separate bike purchase. This dual-purpose approach mirrors a wider industry shift towards adaptable platforms as riders and clubs look to control costs while still chasing marginal aerodynamic gains.
For British time triallists, many of whom compete on tight club budgets across the CTT calendar, a bolt-on aero solution built onto an already-owned road frame could prove more attractive than investing in a standalone TT machine. It’s also a useful reminder that meaningful speed gains at grassroots level increasingly come from position and cockpit setup rather than frame purchases alone – good news for riders eyeing a new PB on the shorter courses this summer without breaking the bank.
