LOOK Sheds Weight with New 785 Huez RS Climbing Bike

French manufacturer LOOK Cycle has pulled the wraps off its latest lightweight machine, the 785 Huez RS, pitched as the brand’s most feather-light frame to date. Built with high-modulus carbon fibre, the bike is aimed squarely at riders who live for the mountains, with LOOK promising razor-sharp responsiveness the instant the gradient bites.

The model takes its name from the fabled Alpe d’Huez climb, a nod to the sort of relentless alpine hairpins the machine is engineered to devour. LOOK says every element of the frame has been refined to strip out excess mass without sacrificing stiffness, giving racers and ambitious amateurs alike a tool built purely for going uphill fast.

Full geometry, weight figures and pricing have yet to be released, but the launch slots neatly into a wider trend among frame builders chasing ever-lighter superbikes as the UCI’s weight limit continues to shape design priorities at the top end of the market.

For UK climbers and clubrun regulars eyeing next season’s sportives and hilly road races, a new dedicated lightweight platform from a manufacturer with LOOK’s pedigree – the firm that pioneered clipless pedals and carbon frame construction – is worth watching closely. Anything that shaves grams while keeping stiffness intact tends to filter down quickly into more affordable framesets, so this launch could well influence what climbers are riding in a season or two, even if the 785 Huez RS itself sits at the premium end of the market.
