Bikepacking Favourite Tailfin Bought by MVC Group
British luggage specialist Tailfin has been snapped up by MVC Group, the outdoor and cycling apparel conglomerate, in a deal that brings one of the sport’s most talked-about bikepacking brands under new ownership.
Tailfin built its reputation on sleek, aerodynamic pannier racks and rack-and-bag systems designed for riders who want lightweight, weatherproof storage without sacrificing the handling of a road or gravel bike. The brand’s founder, Nick, is expected to remain closely involved as the company transitions into MVC Group’s wider portfolio, though full details of the new structure have yet to be confirmed.
For MVC Group, the acquisition adds a well-regarded engineering-led name to a stable that already spans apparel and accessories, giving it a stronger foothold in the fast-growing bikepacking and adventure riding market.
The move comes at a time when consolidation within the cycling industry shows little sign of slowing, as larger groups look to bring innovative independent brands into their fold rather than compete with them.
For riders, particularly those who venture beyond the tarmac on multi-day gravel or touring routes, the hope will be that fresh backing brings greater investment in research and development without diluting the design philosophy that made Tailfin’s kit so popular with self-supported racers and adventurers in the first place.
