Bikeability Trust Rolls Out Online Course to Boost Adult Riders’ Confidence

The Bikeability Trust, best known for delivering cycle training to schoolchildren across the country, has turned its attention to grown-up cyclists with the launch of CycleIn, a fresh e-learning package aimed squarely at adults who want to sharpen their riding skills.

Set to go live in September 2026, the course has been developed with support from Forest Bikes and will be priced at u00a37.99 for anyone wishing to take part. Rather than requiring riders to attend in-person sessions, CycleIn is delivered entirely online, through a series of bite-sized modules covering the fundamentals of safe and assured road riding.

According to the Trust, the whole programme has been designed to be completed relatively quickly, making it a practical option for those who might be put off by the time commitment of traditional cycle training but still want to brush up on their bike-handling, positioning and awareness before heading out into traffic.

The move reflects a wider push within the cycling sector to make skills training more accessible, particularly for adults who missed out on structured instruction as children or who are returning to riding after a long break. With commuting numbers fluctuating and more people picking up bikes for leisure and fitness, tools that build confidence without demanding a full day off work could prove popular.

For our readers, this matters beyond the school gates. Plenty of club cyclists and weekend racers learned to ride informally, picking up habits that aren’t always ideal once you’re mixing it with traffic on training rides or navigating busy sportive routes. A low-cost, flexible refresher like CycleIn could offer a useful way to plug gaps in bike-handling knowledge, particularly for newer members of cycling clubs or those coaching beginners through British Cycling-affiliated groups.

Further details on course content and registration are expected closer to the September 2026 launch.
